Rabbit, the ramblin' robot

University of Michigan Rabbit

Looks like one of the four universities collaborating on the humanoid robo-walking project earlier this year may have gotten too big for its britches: the University of Michigan (in conjunction with some French scientists on the ROBEA project) have developed the "Rabbit", a footless walking bot that balances itself similar to a human (er, without the feet part, anyway) and can even run for up to 6 strides. We're not sure if this is an different project than the one they were involved with before or merely an extension and evolution, but they're def keeping it real to the harsh robot aesthetic you just don't see in the cutsies like QRIO.
