Nokia expanding N-Gage platform to regular smartphones
Probably doesn't mean the end of the N-Gage as a standalone device (no comment), but Nokia announced today that they're going to start expanding the N-Gage's "mobile gaming solution" platform to several new Nokia smartphones (presumably ones with enough oomph to handle 3D gaming). Mainly means that lots of other Nokia phones'll be able to play N-Gage games, which is probably how it should have been from day one. But we digress. The first compatible phones should be out sometime in the first half of next year.

aren't the current phones already N-Gage compatible? like 6600, 7610, and stuff.
To Little To Late
Og! Go to http://web.n-gage.com/e3/ and click "next gen graphics" under "e3 videos".
Makes sense. Just look at tapwave - using technology instead of making devices directly now. I guess we can start seeing with "n-gage powered" or something. cool :) it SHOULD be a technology, and not a phone, anyway - nice move, NOK :)
Grr...I was wanting to hear about a new N-Gage, not a new way to play N-Gage games...
Too little too late? Troll.
N-gage next gen demo looks nice. Well think of the game sales! 25million + units a year, and downloadable games!
I LOVE N-GAGE! I will miss the dedicated devices though.
LOL....ALL Nokia Series 60 phones can already play N-Gage games....so whats this gonna change ?
Why would you want to wait for the next n-gage to come out? I think that the only thing left out of the n-gage qd is the fm radio, but I can live without it. It does still have an mp3 and video player. I would definately put some thought into the next n-gage though.
@ DM - NO THEY CAN'T DUDE. Put a game MMC in your S60 phone...does it work?
Anyway just to say rumours from the N-Gage chat that the new Nokia N-Series phones will be able to play N-Gage games. The N-prefix could signify the new breed of N-Gages..
i say nokia should just cut their losses and go back to good old SNAKE... that game was the best phone game IMO.
leave it at that.
umm...maybe legally they can't work. but technically, all series 60's can run n-gage games. and lotsa people do it. breaking the law? maybe. but this ain't new technology.
@ fulani - YES THEY CAN DUDE. Heard of cracks? I got a shitload of Ngage games transfered from my comp to three symbian phones, and they work fine FYI.
