The Media-Sensitive Glasses

Limor Fried, who made that Wave Bubble cellphone cone of silence we hit up earlier this month, also created a little something called the Media-Sensitive Glasses as part of her MIT thesis project, Social Defense Mechanisms: Tools for Reclaiming our Personal Space. This one is a pair of glasses with lenses that are supposed to protect you from the mind-numbing effects of TV by using a photo detection circuit by automatically going dark whenever you look at a television screen courtesy of a built-in photo sensor. The glasses can also be recalibrated to work with computer monitors for those addicted to, uh, checking their email.
