The Gold Microprocessor Bling Necklace
We by no means encourage a wardrobe crafted, however cleverly, from spare or used parts, but if you happen to be
down with wearing t-shirts shirt that say something in r337 sp33k or, alternatively, have DeCSS written on 'em, at
least spice it up a bit with some bling on CPU. So clean yoself up, son, that fat Mercedes logo on your gold chains is
over.

First. :)
Anyway it's pretty cool, I guess. I would never wear it, though.
Jake T @ Dec 19th 2005 1:01AM
If I NEEDED some bling bling, I wouldn't mind wearing that.
Ray Skinner @ Dec 19th 2005 1:01AM
Maybe I found something to do with my old CPU's. I can sell them to jewelers. :)
mushroom blue @ Dec 19th 2005 1:01AM
so, uh. to be "bling", the metal needs to be platinum.
this is merely a gold chain.
good job showing how white you are, though.

Well I've had a PPC 603ev CPU on my keychain for like... ever. All you have to do is cut the pc board around the chip of your choice and leave a little 'ear' for the key ring.
Since I'm bored at work, I suggest a keychain inventory here to waste time. I'll start:
VW "switchblade" key for my car
VW valet key for my wife's car
Key to my office
Key to my house
Key to my parents' house
PPC 603ev 180 mhz CPU (from a Powerbook 2400)
Xserve key
Small green glowing Tritium tube. (been glowing for 5 years so far)
White Photon light

Wasn't this on wierd al.. in the All about the Pentiums video?

Looks like a gold plated chain, or worse gold-tone. Gimme the schnitzel please...
yuppicide @ Dec 19th 2005 1:01AM
I don't consider anyone who says "First" in their remark to actually be first. Therefore #2 you get my vote for first comment.
Anyway, I think it would be cool if they also had a spinner one..
James @ Dec 19th 2005 1:01AM
"Bling" is not a word exclusive to platinum. Rappers didn't even come up with it, it was lifted out of late-90s dancehall songs by the always original *cough* mainstream NYC rap axis a few years ago but actually refers to anything shiny and expensive.
MTV isn't a very accurate source of cultural knowledge.

too funny.. while packing for my move this week, i found this athlonxp 2600+ lying around, just the cpu itself, and considering i had no uise for it whatsoever (don't even know if it still works), i considered for a sec the silly idea of turning it into a pendant
but i dropped the idea, "that's just too stupid", ironic.. :P

Used to have a 80186 mounted on my keychain, during pretty much all the 1990's. Pretty cool form factor ( http://images.google.ca/images?q=80186&num=100&hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&sa=N&tab=wi ), and an excellent conversation-starter if you're in a geek-out contest.
I wonder if the critter would still work after all the abuse it took...
Christian.

I made a neclace out of a Motorola 68020 CPU. This wasn't a Mac either. It came out of my Sun 3/60 many years ago. I just bent a few of the pins over a nice piece of cord, and used a dremel to take the rest off, and polish it up nice.
For those who have no idea what a Sun 3/60 is.. here's a URL:

Dear sirs, I'd like to take a moment to point out a slight error in your original posting. The colloquialism you were looking for is spelled "phat", not "fat".
By the by, this website is the shazziznit dawg! Ahem, thank you.

this would look tight with my ram knuckles.

Pimpin' it... Geek style?
/me thinks this is perfect for the failed geek (read "dork") kickin' it curbside with his hommies. :-P I mean seriously, can you picture it? I'm thinking white ribbed muscle shirt (covered w/food stains, of course), big-assed dorky Coke-bottle eyeglasses w/tinting, rhinestones, and little wings, red fedora, a 40 of Bawlz and, instead of a clock around his neck... a PDA! (or maybe a Penguin clock, hm...) (Sorry, I'd be more elucidative but I'm at work ATM so my attention is divided. I leave it to your imagination to fill the character and scene out. =P )
doraemon @ Dec 19th 2005 1:01AM
what about an old-fashion G5 IBM power pc chip for the apple-boys?
sine~language @ Dec 19th 2005 1:01AM
reminds me of a phreak crew I once knew, who wore processors as badges, pinned to their shirts. very 90's indeed..
