Is the flash audio player market in for a price war?

128MB flash player

We didn't make a big fuss last week when Apple dropped prices by a Jackson on the 1GB iPod shuffle (we heard that sales of the 1GB model hadn't been so hot), but word on the street is that the cost of 1 gigabit and 2 gigabit Nand flash modules has been plummeting (Samsung and Micron have flooded the market recently), and that this, combined with softer-than-expected demand, could result in some very aggressively priced flash players hitting stores later this summer and early this fall. If you're fixing to buy a new flash-based MP3 player you might want to wait a month or two.
