SD Card Association: it's a microSD

microSD

We thought they were cogent on this like three months ago at least, but it looks like the SD Card Association finally approved TransFlash as its microSD standard. What's it mean? Well, besides retiring the term TransFlash (you'll be missed, old friend), nothing really changes. It's been electrically compatible with SD the entire time, and was basically designed by SanDisk as a candidate for what was to be "microSD". In other words, don't worry about the name, and think about how much fun it'll be to put a TransFlash microSD card into a miniSD adapter into an SD adapter.
