USB… Spaghetti, aka Cable ga Napolitain?
Hold the phone here a second. Yes, that is a plate of fake spaghetti bolognese (or yakisoba, or lo mein, or
napolitan whatever you want to call it) with a USB cable coming out the side—yes, that is a spot for you to plug in
your USB flash drive (preferrably USB sushi, if
available) on the end of the fork. Just hang on a minute here. We're having a moment, ok?

OMG WTF?
Ok, WTF?
more astounding than the existence of this product is that someone was actually willing to actually plug it into their computer and have a picture taken of it. Photographic evidence of how much they hate their Mac.
I think it might be tough to beat the absurdity of this one -- could it be the last oddly-shaped-USB-device that we see on Engadget?
Yo what the HELL!!! Thatlooks really GROSS!!!!!!!
William,
Not if I have anything to say about it. We love this stuff.
Best,
Ryan
Culinary correction: that is not spaghetti bolognese. Bolognese-style is a meat sauce. I see no meat in that photo.
6 of these bundled together with a belkin high speed 7 port hub and you can have dinner set for six people and even have room left in the final slot to put in one of the USB lamp thingys to provide lighting for the evening.
Sounds like a piece of modern art to me, "Dinner in the digital age, megabites of entertaiment".
FYI: that is NOT spaghetti bolognese... that is the ubiquitous japanese staple dish YAKISOBA (stir fried noodles), if you continue forth to the original japanese store links, you can see other USB drives such as takoyaki (octopus balls), sashimi, siumai, etc. heheheh too funny i expect nothing less from my JDM bretheren... ;)
Well it took me about 5 min's to understand what on earth the pictues showed :s
Dude. One word: brilliant.
Seek help.
whoa , click on the link and u'll be directed to their page. and there's a THUMB Drive. no really, literally. a THUMB, drive. freaky people. plug them fingers into this one, and u'll have a yummy cannibal meal.
"XYZ Corp., a leading US defense contractor has banned spaghetti bolognese from their cafeterias citing recent development of a data device which could be used to smuggle sensitive data out of the premises."
does not compute
concept recognition failed
I'm going to stick a thumb drive up my arse and I will be the first walking USB device. Then I am going to sell myself on EBay. Any takers?
This just goes to show you can stick a thumb drive into anything and call it a new and unique product.
Actually, it's not yakisoba either. If you go to the site it says "Neapolitan" (I'm Japanese) which is something I think you can only find in Japan. It's basically spaghetti mixed with green peppers, onions, ham and whatnot with ketchup. Check out the top right picture here:
http://www.pizza-la.co.jp/menu_e/pastamenu_pub.html
What purpose does this serve!?... I'd go nuts wanting to eat this looking at it. Not exactly portable either. I'm just really confused
HT already mentioned that this is Neapolitan.
The second thing you'll find from the original site (http://www.solidalliance.com/press/press.html#0725) is that this is nothing but a USB extension cable. That's right, for $200 it does NOTHING except provide that little slot there for you to plug your thumb drive (or whatever) into. And look disturbing.
Now a neapolitan hub, I could totally go for that.
someone pass the soy sauce.
Shrimp tempura spaghetti? Ew. Where the hell is the meatball shaped usb drive when you really need it??? And does that plate of spaghetti have any led lights, preferably blinking?? Cause I'm all over it if it does...
I don't know whether to think "stupid" or "art" or "shouldn't it heat up your meal?"
they could disguise a umd burner in this form factor and sony's legal department would be too busy holding their aching sides to litigate the proprietary breakdown. genius.
i think having the fork suspended in midair by a pillar of noodles isn't as aburd as having just the noodles on a dish, for an extra touch of realism.
if you are familiar with restaurants in japan, most have a number of selections from their menu recreated in plastic for display in their front windows. i'm thinking this company either came into possession of some overstock or previously used models....
and yes, neapolitan here is pretty much whatever you have on hand added to spaghetti with ketchup.... a staple menu item of kisaten across japan.
Someone is taking the concept of bistro computing a wee bit to seriously. To much Hitchhiker's Guide for them.
This is funny though. If only they had a full line-up of food look alike computing products I'd be tempted to do my system up that way.
