July 28: What's on HDTV today
Here are the HDTV programs showing on some selected networks today, along with "what we're watching and why." All times are Eastern Time:
ABC and UPN: No HD programming. (Shame on you both!)
CBS: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (9 PM), Without a Trace (10 PM)
NBC: Joey (8 PM), Will & Grace (8:30 PM), ER (10 PM), The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (11:30 PM)
Fox: The O.C. (9 PM)
WB: Smallville (8 PM), Everwood (10 PM)
What we're watching and why: "The Day After Tomorrow" on HBO-HD at 8:30 PM. Hey, we've been known to watch marginal programs simply because they're in HD, so here's another example. This 2004 box-office bummer has great special effects that, when seen in HD, might offset the so-so plot. It doesn't hurt that the movie was directed by Roland Emmerich of "Independence Day" fame.
