Trusted Reviews has a nice write up on the new Sony S-.V- and W-series of LCD and plamsa screens. Each of these three lines of HDTVs has something to offer, but the most interesting piece of the article is what's missing from Sony's line: a 1080p display. According to Riyad Emeran, the review author, Sony told him that a 1080p screen was due out around December.

Sony has gone from a leadership position in the television market to one of a follower. It wasn't that long ago when the Sony Trinitron was the standard that others were measured by. Now, Sony has let its competitors catch up; worse yet, Sony has let some companies pass by. Where are the 1080p consumer sets from the once high and mighty Sony? Looks like we're waiting a few months for the answer to that question.
