Letterman soon to broadcast in HDTV

Sister blog TV Squad is reporting that David Letterman's show is going high definition at the end of this month, when he'll join Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien, both of whom have been in HDTV for some time now.

I'm not that thrilled by these kinds of announcements. Other than seeing someone's wrinkles, what good is a show like The Late Show with Dave Letterman in HDTV? Instead, I'd rather see CBS and other networks put their high-def resources into action shows and sports.
