Land of the Dead game set for October release

Land of the Dead Poster (225…for real!)

GameSpot has reported that Brainbox Games will release its Land of the Dead game, The Road to Fiddler's Green, this October on the Xbox. The game is intended to a prequel to George A. Romero's movie Land of the Dead, but from the description given, this game sounds nothing more than a generic first-person shooter – I'm picturing the Evil Dead video games, except Fiddler's Green doesn't have any celebrity voices (and, for what it's worth, hearing Bruce Campbell one-liners did make the last Evil Dead game a step above mediocrity). That's a shame, really, because so much could be done with a franchise like this.

In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing a Shaun of the Dead video game, as you try to make your way to the Winchester keeping as many of your NPC friends alive as long as possible, using whatever you can pick up as a weapon (no M16's, but chairs and basketballs to make your escape). What is your idea for a good Zombie video game?
