iScan VP30 - High Definition Video Processor and Hub

iScan VP30

Ok. So you have the new plasma center stage in your living room. Between you and the kids, there is a multitude of cables and devices that need to be hooked up to this new set. The DVD player, the satellite tuner, the Xbox (or PS3), maybe even a computer, but they all output a different resolution. Sure, the TV can up or down scale the signal to match its native resolution with a built in processor, but what if there was a device that did it better than the TV? Plus, it had more than one HDMI input to work with.

This is where the iScan VP30 comes into play. This "high definition video processor and hub" is made by DVDO; the same company that has been producing top of the line scalers for years. I can tell you that they improved on last year’s model by simply adding 2 more HDMI inputs to make a total of 4! But the biggest improvement would be the ability to upscale to 1080p. (Not a typo) Even if you have an ED plasma, let alone a Sony Qualia, this would be a benefit to your system by allowing you to plug everything into this and then output it through a HDMI cable at the set's native resolution. Still, at $1,999, it may not be within reach of everyone. But hey, they let you choose what type of digital cable it comes with!
