HDTV "catch-22" research report

Evil scientist

Here's a newsflash for you based on a new ABI Research study. Apparently, there's a major "catch-22" in the HDTV world and while we normally wouldn't quote too much, we just have to share this with you.

When comparing the move from standard to HDTV and the move from black-and-white to color, the ABI folks say it is "like moving to color, but not even as dramatic." The research on why there is "relatively little HD content" indicates that it is due to "the small audience base." Wow, that's so enlightening; I'm going to read it again. Hang on...just a minute.....Ok, I've read it again and learned nothing.

Granted, I'm sure there's more in the research study than what we're seeing in the abstract. If I have to buck up for the whole report, however, you might want to tell me something meaningful.

An even more important issue: do these folks even have an HDTV? Sure, the move to color television was dramatic, but the move to a widescreen view with five times the clarity is pretty darn dramatic too! Besides, we can save you bunch of money as we called the "catch-22" a "chicken-and-egg" issue the last time we saw one of these report announcements.
