185,000 PSPs sold during launch weekend in UK
According to Chart Track, this past weekend's Sony PSP launch was officially "the most successful UK console launch ever." Despite frustrating delays, the PSP sold nearly 100,000 more units than the DS did during its UK launch. 1 in 5 buyers purchased Ridge Racer, making it the #1 best-selling game in the land—8 other PSP titles finished in the Top 10; 19 games in all in the Top 40.
The DS has a significant lead in overall sales, having moved 300,000 units in the UK to date. But software will likely decide which handheld comes out on top when the dust has settled after the coming holiday season.
