Sony SXRD projector by year end

Sony SXRD projector

Sony isn't trying to reinvent themselves just with the new Bravia LCD line, which is good. Frankly, they need a wide variety of high-quality, value-priced HDTV sets to regain lost market share. Sony is starting to see the big picture as they announced an SXRD projector unit. They got the quality part, but at roughly $10,000, they missed on the value part.

The Sony VPL-VW100 is capable of 1920 x 1080 resolution and can handle both DVI and HDMI inputs. A 400 watt lamp provides the bright light source and yet the new unit boasts an impressive 15,000:1 contrast ratio.

The press release is in Japanese, but a quick translation also indicates an RJ-45 jack on the unit. Hmmm.....an Ethernet network-enabled projector? Could it have some type of network streaming capabilities?
