JVC DR-DX5S combo recorder with hard drive, DVD and MiniDV
JVC is throwing down this pretty sweet digital combo recorder that supports six-way dubbing between any of its three components: a 250GB hard drive, DVD recorder, and MiniDV recorder in a single deck. This would be hot for camcorder users who want to offload some of the work of archiving and editing footage, and versatile enough to be useful for anyone needing to move around a lot of media in various formats (which seems like more and more of us, these days). The unit also sports some optimization to achieve the most efficient bit rate versus storage space ratio. The DR-DX5S will ship out in October for about $1500.

But who the hell wants two controllers for one device?

That's a flip down Corky. Maybe you were funnin' us?

That's only 1 remote. They're just showing how the bottom flips open to reveal the extra buttons.

Guess they've definitely dumped the DVHS standard.

That is a pretty expensive unit. A computer could potentially do the same thing for less cost.

There are several time-saving uses for this product. Ironically, it's not in production and never will be (according to JVC customer service)!

I hope they're makin' it. I just ordered one from B&H, who said they have 'em in stock.
