iPod nano forcing Taiwanese MP3 makers to cut prices

The one solid edge no-name Taiwanese MP3 player manufacturers always had over Apple was in their price: they could almost always undercut the iPod. But now it looks like Apple is finally starting to hit them where it hurts. Digitimes reports that "vendors of no-brand flash-based MP3 players" are have already slashed prices on their players by up to 20% for 512MB models and up to 35% for 1GB models in response to Apple's introduction of the iPod nano last week. And this is before Apple has even announced pricing for Asian markets; apparently plenty of manufacturers there have noticed how aggressively Apple has priced the nano in the US and are trying to clear out inventory before it hits Taiwan and exerts some serious downward pressure on flash-based MP3 player prices.
