"Breaker 1-9, breaker 1-9…we got a new dye-sub printer here, boys, and its design is right up our alley." Despite its striking resemblance to a trucker's best friend, HiTi's new dye sublimation Dazzle S400 photo printer can only be used for printing high-res photos (at the equivalent of 6400 DPI) and not for picking up waitresses at a nearby truck-stop. The S400 includes all sorts of technologies that we don't really understand (that's what Comments are for) such as "next generation kernel design", "indigenous OEE digital image processor," and "I2O Image Optimization," but that promise to deliver photorealism unparalleled at its $400 price point. An integrated LCD display lets you preview your pics, and an alleged 16.77-million-color-capability ensures that all those shots with your finger covering the lens will print-out with realistic flesh-tones. This model also supports most memory card formats, including CF, SD, SmartMedia (do they even make those anymore?), MemoryStick/Pro, and MicroDrive (some of the smaller cards will require those little plastic adapters), and comes with editing software to make your pics, well (please excuse us), Dazzle-ing.
