LCoS shootout: is expensive better?

Forbes

Interesting round up over at Forbes of all places. Forbes worked with Ray Soneira of DisplayMate Technologies and five LCoS manufacturers to test various LCoS sets. Sony and SpatiaLight were invited to participate, but couldn't get their test systems delivered in time. The sets ranged in price from $2,695 to $44,995, but three of the five units were under ten-grand. The mixed panel was comprised of 34 people who ranged from "new to HD" to "HD expert."

Panel participants couldn't discern much difference within the first 20 minutes of testing; after that however, brightness, color and clarity variances started to emerge. The JVC professional set at $45k ended up as the best performer, but there are some other good sets in the round-up as well. If you're interested in LCoS as an HD technology, we recommend the brief article.
