Sonic emulated on the Gmini 400?

We don't have a crystal clear sense of what's going down in the Archos Gmini emulation scene, but we did happen to get a tip on a pretty convincing video of a dude playing Sonic on his 2004 Engadget Gadget of the Year with some sort of very beta software (what's clearly labeled as version 0.1). Any wise souls out there want to shed a little light as to what's going on here so that we might also partake in some oh-so-smooth hedgehog action? (Keep your RJ jokes to ya damn self.) That's the old Game Gear Sonic though...definitely not as cool (but I used to play it on my 68k Mac, since I don't think there were any Genesis emus that ran decently).

That looks to me like Sonic 2 for the Game Gear, not any Sonic game for the Sega Genesis. Somewhat less impressive than a Genesis Sonic game, but still interesting nonetheless.
