Sharp produces mega-contrast LCD

Sharp is struggling and plotting against the whole plasma TV line because their LCDs just cannot compete with the gorgeous colors and inky blacks that are produced by plasmas. They made an announcement early today about their 8th generation plant and how they need to lower costs and blah, blah, blah. What they really were doing was gearing us up for this announcement.

A 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio on a 37-inch LCD.

That’s right folks; an LCD panel that can produce good blacks. The only downfall it seems is that they are not going to market this 37-inch to you and I, but rather get it out to the folks in the production field. They seem to think that they are the only ones that need black levels that produce black rather then a bluish-gray hue.

But really, Sharp, we all need 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and if you won't give it to us, then Toshiba's SED will be better then nothing. Be that way.

Update: Adding another '0' to make that 100,000 to 1,000,000
