VOOM's HD celebrity auction and new HD channel

I can honestly say I've never witnessed an auction in high-definition before, and I've seen a bunch of HDTV programming. I'll get my chance and you can join me on October 29th, when VOOM and Julien's Auctions bring 250 celebrity items to the bidding table. The auction coverage is on Gallery HD or channel 9472 on Dish Network.

Included in the auction is a sneak peak at a new high-def channel on collectibles from VOOM that will launch in 2006. The auction kicks off at 1:00 p.m. from the Aladdin Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Some of the items up for auction include:

• John Lennon's white suit from the "Abbey Road" album cover.

• Marilyn Monroe's 1961 appointment book.

• John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 1956 Austin Princess with registration signed by John.

If you've got an HDTV set, money to burn and an hankering for celebrity memorabilia, you can bid on-line via VOOM or Julien's Auctions. The MM appointment book was appealing to us at first, but we'll stick with a VGA Windows Mobile device for now.
