Man, Apple, again? You guys really have to cover up those huge banners you've been printing. So is this the new
iPod? Apparently it was snapped at the "One more thing…" event this AM (which will be getting underway in about an
hour), which iLounge claims depicts a new device with a 2.5 to 2.6-inch diagonal display, and a headphone jack that's
obviously been moved off-center. Guess we'll all know soon enough.

iPods are overrated and if it is a video capable one, i am sure the masses will praise it as the only portable device to play videos.
People are sheep, as well as uninformed morons who go out of their way to buy ipods only to make a fashion statement whilst not even being all too music savvy to fill up gigabytes worth with music.

Kamil, get over yourself. Maybe buying an iPod as a fashion statement could lead to a more fond appreciation of music. If they use it alot, they could possibly get tired of listening to their small collection of music on repeat. So next time someone you know buys one "because it's cool", offer to put some music on it that you like as an effort to "broaden their horizons". Who knows, over time they might become more music savvy and grow out of the Top 40 music you seem to think they are slaves too.

Wow, calling all iPod owners ignorant fashionistas is a pretty sweeping generalization. Maybe some people are like that, but not everyone is. So do us all a favor and keep your iPod envy under wraps while you're trying to make your e-penis bigger.
Awesome? IPods are fashion accessories. Buy something with some real features and get a pair os white headphones seperately if you are so desperate to follow the crowd.
The way the guy/gal is holding it in the pic looks like it's a lot slimmer, almost as thin as the Nano.

Think secret already confirmed it will be a firmware update. This is great for those of us with Color iPods. It means that our's is not going to be outdated yet!

Yeah - ThinkSecret's site is suffering under the visit load, it seems. The same thing is affecting iLounge (reminds me of the nano/ROKR announcement - they had a horrible time of it), and I'm guessing most of the other Apple fansites will be slow or unavailable starting at 1 . . .

Here's what I predicted earlier this week:
Apple will be releasing a video iPod, but video functionality will be a UK exclusive at launch. They'll announce the BBC's archive library available through iTunes UK.
Jobs will do his normal thing at these types of events, announce a minor bump in laptop stats, a thiner more colorful iPod (ed. larger screen, also, I see), then he'll say..."Oh, and one more thing..." and there'll be video feed to London where U2 will be on hand to play and show off the new device.
Launching the video functionality in the UK where there is a ready-made cache of public domain video available takes them off the hook (imo) as far as the Grokster standard is concerned, as they trickle into this country from imports by obsessives as well as when they eventually release it stateside.

And monkeys will fly out of my butt.
No Apple product this big will *ever* be "UK exclusive". And Apple never does anything half-assed "at launch". If it's going to have video, it's going to have video everywhere, at launch. (You could say the iTunes music store was an exception to this, but not really... what you're suggesting would be akin to releasing the original iPod without the ability to play music at all in any territory but one.)
The widescreen display of the iPod in the illustration above does suggest video. But if it has video, it'll have it everywhere. Doesn't mean you'll be able to download video everywhere through iTunes, but you'll be able to play it. Apple's not going to neuter the functionality of the product just because they don't have an online store available in every territory.

Did someone make fun of your clothes as a child or something? I've seen you bashing iPods here before, and I have to say I don't get it. If you want a different product, go buy one.

I just wan to to see exactly what it is! Im not going to buy it like some others till it goes down. I just upgraded to a 30gb Ipod Photo for $200. =) So i want to wait a while to drop more money.
Id say a "ipod video" will go for $400 bucks.

Yeah you can dance and watch movies, sure. I mean just look at those posters "A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away" makes me bust out some sick dance moves like the green ad that they have. However if they do release a video ipod they should have Napoleon Dynamite playing for a second and then cut to him actually holding the ipod doing the same dance, fuck Madonna shes from Detroit not the UK.

Judging from the pictures of the poster (above and in iLounge), the IPod advertised is probably NOT a video since all the (shadow) users shown are "listening" to it, and not "watching" it. I'm not saying Apple's not going to introduce an iPod video, just this isn't it.
Oh, and Kamil (#2): for a person who hates IPod so much, you certainly spend a lot of time reading and writing about it. Let me guess, you're trying to rationalize your decision for purchasing IRiver or Muvo or something--am I right?
