VoodooPC Idol Mini PC - $899 and up

When Intel unveiled its reference design for small PCs back in March, the Mac faithful screamed, "mini knockoff!" Now that actual boxes based on the concept are showing up, we're sure another round of angst is about to be unleashed upon us. The latest is the VoodooPC Idol, which does look sort of mini-like, albeit in red (or green or orange or blue or pink). However, at $899 and up, it's not targeting the bargain-hunting switchers Apple's been going after with the mini (though $899 is a bargain compared to Voodoo's other desktops, which start at about $2,000). Voodoo is going after the gaming crowd with this, and has beefed up the box with a Pentium M, DVD burner and something Mac mini users have been screaming for since day one: a full-speed 7200 RPM hard drive.
