Pioneer XW-HT1 digital wireless speaker system reviewed

When it comes to wireless speakers, we don't exactly have high expectations. Most of the ones we've seen are low-power 900 MHz models that pick up more static than music; they may be fine for extending the range of your PC's audio on the cheap, but don't exactly cut it when it comes to expanding a home theater system. So, we're pretty stoked to see that the Pioneer XW-HT1 wireless speaker system is not only designed specifically to work with home theater systems, but apparently does a good job of it, according to PC Magazine. The 2.4 GHz, 10-watt speaker connects to a stereo, TV, home theater system or DVD player, and offers a range of sound settings, including a Cinema setting to keep dialog on your front speakers while routing other sounds to the rear. The speaker can also work as a standalone stereo speaker, but as the review points out, that's beside the point. This speaker is designed to quickly add surround sound to your living room without stringing wires, and at under $200, it sounds like it does it at a good price, too.
