Folding@home Team Engadget competition! Oh, and call the Podcast!

Ok, so we decided that maybe altruism wasn't enough incentive to get some of you guys to
join our Engadget Folding@home team. So
howsabout we sweeten the deal by incentivizing said altruism? First Team Engadget folder to get 10,000 F@H points gets
a Tokyo Flash watch on us. Yeah, you heard it right—they make some pretty sweet watches (though you may not necessarily
get the one pictured).
Want to know more? Go here.
Want to learn how to optimize your system for F@H? Visit
hackaday's Folding@home How-To (just don't join their
team, join ours).
Want to check out our team page?
Go here.
Ready to go? Ok!
Team Engadget's F@H team ID is: 39227

Also, we're adding a voicemail feature so you can call the Podcast and
leave us messages. Isn't that nice? So give us a holla with your name, location, and a tiny teeny bit about the Podcast
(something with a kick of humor might be nice), and maybe we'll put you in Podcast 50! Otherwise in the future you can
call in and leave us a message responding to something we've talked about, and we'll get back to you on the air during
our next episode.

what is the team number? the link to join the engadget folding team is not working for me.
RBe @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
Hey, I think Hack-A-Day is cool with Engadget. They're homies. Like brothers seperated by a merger, or something.
Andre @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
It would help if you gave us the damn team number!
samj @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
hey i entered the team number and uhh... im not showing up on the site..
Peter Rojas @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
Just for the record: I co-founded both hackaday and Engadget, so don't anyone be getting pissy about us linking to their guide. hackaday's writers write for both sites, too.

b-lock has already won, unless you're not counting him.
Me @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
If you started F@H and aren't on the team page yet, just wait for your computer to finish a WU (Work Unit) and it'll send results under your specified name and THEN you'll be visible on the team page.
djhinn @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
Soo once that person gets the 10k how are you goin to contact them since the software doestn ask for any other info?
bob @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
Am I the only person who noticed that this will probably take at least a month to get that many points. (just a rough estimate)

irfaan.premji @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
woohoo - lets hope i win.
Q @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
Depending on how many systems you're folding with, it shouldn't take anywhere near a month to reach 10,000 points.
Steven Boger @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
i'm sboger on the team.... sboger@gmail.com... for when i win...
Cioffski @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
Dude i think i am on your team. sweet!
Waleed Jameel @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
I actually downloaded Folding@Home on the first day/post. However, I've run into a snag. My ISP installed a Linksys WAG54G router for me and I don't know how to open the required port for the software to work. If someone could advise me on this, that would be great.
Thanks!
Ryan Block @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
Fuzz, I'm not counting me, because I'm b-lock.
Best,
Ryan
ahbao @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
I am in!
Banzai8th @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
Yeah, just how are you going to identify the winner?
We'll all just claim to be the first name that reaches 10000.
sgribble @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
Hope you are happy to ship the watch to Australia!
TriHFH @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM

Whoever "laxkidmhs07" is, you go to my school and you're in my grade.
TyHink @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
I'm glad I'm not the only one that notice that identification SNAFU. Still - Folding for fun and science. And purty LED watches...
Q @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
I'm quantum_mechanic on the team. Wanna race sboger?
leaded @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
My handle is leaded, contact me at ai4891 AT Y@H0O.com, for when I win ;)
Ryan Block @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
Waleed,
Pretty sure everything goes over port 80 to make things easier. Please check the F@H site for further details.
drdidg @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
I would win if I just added myself to the group. :-P

drdidg @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
So will I win if I just add myself to the group and almost double the current score?
I am only 10 WU's under what b-lock has.
Q @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
Sadly it doesn't work that way. Only new WU's will count towards this team if you change your team number.
drdidg @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
Well I will change over and start crunching away. I have 4 systems that crunch all day. Plus I can setup my Dual G5 to run 2 of them at once.
TedO @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
So they ask for 10,000 points; but on F&H it only shows WU's and Points. I wonder if they meant 10K WU versus 10K for Score???????
laxkidmhs07 @ Dec 19th 2005 12:55AM
who know's me? ahh that kinda scares me
