What we really need is USB powered seat warmers (aka bun warmers). After that, we need USB powered hand massagers.
Naw, USB socks are the way to go. Once I get too wired to my PC, I'll never need to leave.
whats wrong with a good ol' powerbook?
Followed by the natural next thing: USB powered bun massagers.
I guess the target market is those people living in cold weather that love internet porn but always have cold hands. Ya, millions, they'll sell millions, invest in this company now will there's still some shares left..
The reason peoples hands get cold is most likely because they have been sitting at the computer for an extended period of time. If they would just get up and move around - their hands would stay warm naturally. Unless of course they are computing outside in the snow...
Yeah, my hands are ALWAYS cold when I use the computer. I think it's because the desk's edge, which I lay my arm on, cuts off blood circulation to my fingers and palm. My other hand is just fine though.
I just thought of an idea, heated USB mouse, sweet!!!!
If there is a secretary in your building, ask them if they're cold. Secretaries are *always* cold. You're telling me not one person in your office runs a space heater in the summer because they think the air conditioning is set too cold?
If they market these right, they'll sell a friggin' ton of them. I'd buy one. The boss sets the thermastat at 61 due to the current cost of heating gas/oil. I usually feel like I'm typing with fishsticks instead of fingers.
The really scary thing about this kind of technology is if it should ever fall into the hands of the operators of those secret Government torture chambers. All they have to do is jack up the voltage on the USB bus and you have got yourself some very painful hand burns. Couple that with some USB bamboo-shoot heaters, and you've got the whole hand & fingernail torture spectrum covered.

OH, I so want a pair of these. Right now it's 70 degrees outside, yet I am in my cubicle in my coat with freezing fingers. I don't care how many times I get up and walk around, my hands are always cold. And I am NOT a secretary!
YET another device to connect via USB.
Ok. WE GET IT.
Connect your toothbrush, the red stapler you stole from work, and the telescope you use to spy across the street.
Seriously... what is with this whole USB fetish?
My computer is in the basement and in these bitter cold western pa winters, i would not mind having these. not one bit.
How about a USB powered vibrator?
i guess im the only one to think this is practical...i ride the metra about 3.5 hours a day and when i have to work on my laptop my hands freeze. The train is kept at literally around 55*C...Its freezing...anyways i think these might do the trick :)

If they really want to pull it off, they should make a batterypack with a USB output. Not to have it for mouses and the like, but just for all the other gadgets: the toothbrush, the warmingplate/cupholder, the fans, the lights etc.
Using a batterypack (think like Black&Decker) on several interchangeable gadgets makes it very cool. Scenario: now I want my hands warm up, then I warm my tea some more and read a book in the dark with the lights on. When I get overheated, I turn my fan on. All just from one toolkit with a batterypack.
Forget drivers, hubs, mouses, keyboards. USB powered everything is the new way of living!!!

Unomi,
Do you mean one like this: http://www.engadget.com/entry/1488507740662585/
Hey, I submitted this one to you guys...
I have looked and looked to buy these, but nobody seems to actually carry them. For all intents and purposes, they're vaporware. I could sure use them, though. My mouse hand freezes!
