The Mac Vision MC3007
You'd think an electronics company would know better than to tempt the Wrath of Jobs and call themselves Mac Vision,
but we just got tipped off to the MC3007, Mac Vision's new portable video player with a 7-inch LCD screen, a 40GB hard
drive, an SD memory card slot, support for playback of WMA and MP3 audio files and AVI, WMV, and MPEG4 video files, and
"supper powerful sound effect." Apparently squeezing in all that "supper powerful" sound requires a little extra heft —
they list the MC3007 as weighing 2.64 pounds, which is almost nine times as heavy as a 30GB
iPod with video, which comes in at 4.8 ounces) and over
five times as much as the Creative Zen Vision, which
weighs 8.43 ounces. We seriously hope that's just a typo or a shipping weight.
[Thanks, tbone]

dont even try to fit it in your pocket. you think they will have some at C.E.S?
Ahem, okay it is a bit heavy, but the screen is also bigger. iPod with video is 2.5" and this has a 7" screen.
i guess it was a typo... the site is down right now.
I like your blog a lot!Flumfi Productions
Umm yah. Jobs is going to be on this company's ass like a crack pimp on his ho. That is to say fleets of lawyers will be launched out of Apple’s super secret mountain hide-out al la the big flying guys from Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised to hear of a chair or two being thrown. . . Oops wrong CEO.
um, it's also a SEVEN INCH SCREEN!
sheesh.
Compare it to portable DVD players, not an ipod.
How about we compare it to a Creative Zen Vision? Vision has a 3.7 inch screen. This has a 7 inch screen. You're telling me it took an extra two pounds to fit 3.3 inches onto it?
hey poster 4. are you joking or just stupid.
They compared it to an ipod because the device described carries the "mac vision" name. Not because this thing is a direct competitor or alternative to an ipod.
Ugh... maybe learn to understand a little subtle sarcasm, before you reign you fury on this poor blog
Well not sure about the math but I think the 16:9 (assuming it is 16:9) 7 inches translates to about 21 squareinches and 4:3 3,7 inches would be 6.5 squareinches. So, it's not really double the inches = double the weight.
That thing would mount nicely in a car! Here's to hoping they have lineout audio.
The Archos AV700 has a 7-inch display and it's only 20.8 oz, or roughly half the weight of this beast. Happy now?
Whoa, with a name like that I am dumbfounded its not a copyright-agnostic Chinese company.
(see http://www.boycottmadeinchina.org/downloads/dragontext.pdf)
p.s.: how can U2 be in bed with Apple who's in bed with China who's burning beds in Tibet?
Umm... pardon me but I think it's "super" not "supper". "Supper" would be as in the meal, and "super" would be as in "superman".
But anyway... actually that looks a lot more appealing to me than the iPod video, aside from the outrageous weight.

"Supper" is what they have written on their product page. I brought it up to poke fun at it.
