Rat trap alerts pest control of its prey with SMS

Rat trap

The common rat, enemy to freshly laid network cables throughout the earth, has met his match in a humane trap from the UK pest control firm Rentokil that messages the pest controller via SMS once it catches its prey. The trap senses the weight of the rodent, sparing squirrels and rabbits, but clamping down around mice and rats before poisoning them "humanely" with a carbon dioxide capsule. The trap then automatically messages the pest control guy, so he doesn't have to check it periodically, and so that the trap can be reset for more catchin' opportunities. If only we had known of the marvelous technical frontiers afforded to pest control endeavors, we just might have stuck with those career path recommendations we got out of high school.
