Fox News going high-def?

Fox News

We don't know any details for sure, but savvy HD Beat reader, Greg from New York, sent us this hot tip:

"Last weekend flipping HD channels here in Manhattan, the guide says "Volcano" on Fox, but I see video of a live high-def shot of Manhattan instead. The audio is from "Volcano", but the HD camera is focusing on various buildings around the city in what seemed to be a live shot from a helicopter hovering off the southern tip of the island. They focused on a soccer game on Pier 40 for a couple of minutes, then some spectacular shots of the Empire State Building and others. Then the video cuts back to "Volcano".

It appears that Fox was testing a high-def setup over Manhattan. Now why would they be doing that? Were they looking for the volcano? We don't think so; we'll do a follow-up with the PR folks over at Fox and see what the scoop is. Thanks Greg!
