Disney patents multi-visit mobile content downloads at fast food joints
Now that you can't SuperSize anymore thanks to that nosy parker and his inflammatory documentary, we've been
wondering what to do with all that extra change left over from our Big Mac meals. Well patent sleuth extraordinaire
Barry Fox has uncovered a
filing that suggests Disney has a plan to relieve us of that pesky change by selling us a slice of digital content
pie with each Arby's Melt or Chalupa or Six Dollar Burger. With so many people carrying around storage-rich mobile
devices, Disney figures it can charge you to trickle, say, one-fifth of a movie each morning when you hit Wendy's for a
Frosty and chili. The system proposes using either WiFi or Bluetooth for content transfer, and could possibly even
include giveaway devices. Why? Well, it benefits the restaurant by encouraging the customer to return several times in
order to finish downloading The Dukes of Hazzard, y'know?

I seriously doubt they plan to charge for it. More likely they'll use it like those "buy 10 get one free" cards.

Only in America . . .

The Hamburglar was defined by his obsession with stealing McDonald's video downloads.

Was this idea born in a vacuum?
Like in a Hollywood boardroom?

It's a shame burger clipart only comes in 4:3 and doesn't take advantage of the nice big 16:9 screen.

OR...the video download service could be used for promotional tie-ins. So instead of just getting a some new Disney movie's crappy plastic "character" toy that's gonna roll under your car seat anyway, the kids can download a cool trailer, or sneak-peak, or a Disney channel's "behind the scene's interviews,"or a cartoon (with not-so-subliminal advertising).
Just a "wild" guess....... ; )

This is possibly the stupidest idea I've heard all week. What if you get 2/5th of some movie then don't go to McD's for a week and when you go back they're now sending clips of some other terrible movie than the one you have a bit of? Also what sort of time would it take to send you 1/5th of a movie using Bluetooth?
Well, maybe they'll have a free device that can be hacked all to heck...

Thanks J! "Stupidy". I like that. Nice sylable economy. :)
And it applies perfectly to this fine example of soon to be over-hyped moronic cross maketing. The kids are all just cattle with bank accounts...

Well, gee, someday maybe we can just electronically, wirelessly feed random data into our minds 24 hours a day, and never actually have to TALK to people or have any real thoughts. Wouldn't that just be great.
