Pertelian's External LCD Display keeps fraggers informed
If you're having a hard time pulling away from a frag fest to check for an e-mail from your mom or an IM from the
girlfriend, you might want to check out Pertelian's External LCD Display, which connects over USB and shows what's
going on in the background while you're capping another baddie. It can display e-mail headers, IM messages, the
weather, RSS feeds (like ours), CPU stats, media player data, and more.
You can even set up hotkeys to control all this info without ever leaving the game, including quick responses to IMs
and skipping through and searching your songs to keep the tunes pumpin'. It's $80 at ThinkGeek, but you might have to
leave the compy for a few to meet the delivery guy at the door, so it's a tough call.

WOW! y hasnt anyone thought of this before?
this is just perfect! When im on Enemy Territor, i cant b bothered to download a minimiser, and then keep on freezing my computer up, just to check if ive got any mates talking to me. This screen will tell me in plain english that i DONT have any mates....at all...*whimper*
I think i would grab a logitech G15 keyboard and use that display before I wasted 80.00 on that..
This sorta stuffs been around on the modding scene for years, i built my own. Doubt the site i made for it is still up.
Im certain you can buy cheaper units, but in the end i now use dual screen with something like Konfabulator on the spare.
I don't mean to be a jackass, but there is a "r" missing in your. "You mom".

Just get the logitech G15 keyboard. Better and hopefully it gets enough support. I wouldn't spend money on a one shot thing, when the same price buys you a great keyboard as well.
As stated above, I think there are a few solutions out there that are either better or cheaper than this item. Why not use a 9" TFT screen with extended desktop or something? Then you don't have to wait for scrolling, what this screen probably does. If you're playing a game, you really don't have time to pay attention to moving LCD text.
I made one of these a year ago and mounted it in my case for less then $30 CAD

look for an HD44780 LCD
$30 CAD so thats like a buck fifty american (just kidding)
WOW the one in the picture works even when its not plugged in!
I think that for anyone thinking about using this device, an IM from a girlfriend is fairly low probability.
I have a G15 and not one of my games support the LCD. It's still a great gaming keyboard though, and hopefully the LCD will get more support.
or reuse your old PDA as an LCD:

I used to solve this problem with dual monitors. Now I have a laptop so I just use that, that way I can also type if I have a second.
i have honestly been waiting for something like this forever, i was even thinking of buying a 5 1/2 bay display and making a little box for it, awesome!
i thought that said capping another babbie for a second! heh heh, nevermind!
that one in the picture is showing the cpu usage at 9%, but it isn't even plugged into anything!
woot!
I could use my Palm Vx, but I'd like to use an iPaq with dead battery. ActiveSync doesn't seem to work though :/
smafty:
Download LCDStudio, they have G15 support (www.g15mods.com forums have info.) There is a plugin that allows you to pull information from games.
