Dec. 10: What's on HDTV today

Glory

What we're watching
:

Another one of my all-time favorite movies is on high-def tonight. I was very moved when I saw "Glory" back in 1989. The story is based on the first black regiment of soldiers fighting for the Union in the Civil War. Matthew Broderick is the low-on-experience, but filled-with-integrity leader of the unit and Denzel Washington won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Join me at 8 p.m. on HDNet Movies for a 1080i presentation of this fantastic film.

If the kids are up for another Christmas movie in high-def, you could tune in to ABC at 8:30 p.m instead. Join Jim Carrey in "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" from 2000. I'll pass on the 720p presentation, having seen this once before. Once was enough for this little Who.

After the jump is our traditional listing of HD programs throughout the night.

Here are some other HDTV programs showing on selected networks today. All times are Eastern:

ABC (720p): Hope & Faith (9 p.m.), Hot Properties (9:30 p.m.)

NBC (1080i): Saturday Night Live with guest host: Alec Baldwin (11:30 p.m.)
