First it was HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray, now it appears we're on the playground choosing sides for the Plasma industry. Five major PDP manufacturers have joined forces in a coalition to promote PDPs here in U.S. Enlisting in the ranks are Hitachi, LG, Panasonic, Pioneer and Samsung.
Ironically, the "general" of the Plasma Display coalition is Jim Palumbo, a former senior exec from Sony. Palumbo expects to highlight new performance and testing projects to help the American consumer understand PDPs. Hey Jimmy: skip the new tests and just dispel the myths by educating the consumer via SD advertisements. If that doesn't work, just sit folks down in front of PDPs at shopping mall kiosks and play CSI in HD until folks fork over their cash. How 'bout it?
