TDK starts sample production of Blu-Ray disks

Blu-Ray blanks

Goodbye cartridges. Hello disks! TDK has finally moved Blu-Ray disks out of the cartridge stage thanks to their hard protective coating that minimizes scratches. These are just a sample of the production, as they are waiting for their license from the Blu-ray Disc Association in Japan. TDK plans on making these disks in four different flavors in both the 25 gigs and 50 gigs capacity. They have not announced the cost per disk yet, but think back to how much blank DVDs and CDs used to cost.
