mimi 721: the minimalist's iPod
What do you get when you
carve the scrollwheel out of an iPod, slash the storage down to 128MB, and knock hundreds of dollars off the price? Why
it's the mimi 721, a pendant-style flash player that takes everything beautiful about the 'Pod's classy white simplicity
and stomps it right into the ground. Not much more to say about this 20 euro style-thief--we've got, um, better things
to do this week.

What do you use the scroll wheel for?
i kind of like the idea behind it....but i agree that 128mb is way too small
This wouldn't sell well for one reason only:
It's not an iPod.
Machined the basic mockup for the same thing on a CNC machine a few months back. Had the idea just barely post shuffle.
Argh.
This isn't as much as a ripoff as it seems. I would call this more a derivative work. If they bumped the space up to 256 or 512 and marketed it as a necklace, they have a new, innovative product on their hands. Obviously they got the styling from iPods, but how many MP3 players are designed and marketed as pendants?
This wouldn't sell well for one reason only:

Either that or the iPod shuffle is a much better proposition. Dumbass.
Flava Flav is probably ordering one, as we speak...
They should make it with a SD or other small flash slot on it. Then it would be expandable as storage get's smaller.
The initial storage level would also be a lot higher.
OK, make it 512 MB or more, build in a Bluetooth transceiver with A2DP stereo profile, and affix it to a wristband. THAT would be a hit (I'd pre-order right now!)
7> DARN!!! You stole my comment!
Actually what I was going to say:
"Put a clock on it and I bet Flava Flav will be first in line!"
Regarding pendant MP3 players:
The MobiBlu cube is smaller, has 1 GB, and an FM radio, and a screen. And it's a pendant.
This thingy has only two things going for it: it's kinda cute, sort of out-podding the ipod. And it's alot cheaper than the cube. (Sold as the DAH 1500i outside the US; manufactured by Hyun Won.)
For 20 Euro who's arguing? It's frakkin' cute!
Unliked the other "ripoffs" I actually like this one.
Why the hell would you compare this to the normal iPod? The first thing that came to mind is the iPod Shuffle.
This looks like the result of guilty relation between a shuffle and a b&o beosound2. But it lacks the looks of the first and (most probably) the quality of the last. I wouldn't hit it
Yes , it will be sold , the best thing what i can prefer , see , its for fashion , its price is low , how many songs you want to hear in a day 1000? sorry , i would like just 10 to 20 , so for me its good , fashion wise , price wise and also its size! guys and gals , we are entering in super compression world , next time you will get a phone less than the size of this! or say a phone who's thickness is less than a notebook cover , accepted , it wont have a colour screen a cam , but see its size !! we are entering in a hitech and super compressed world , so it may not be an i pod , but its a pod and i will prefer it!
This is yet another in the trend of disposable MP3 players as clothing accessories. Personally, I think it is near worthless (almost as worthless as with only 128megs, then again my SO is still using a 128MB MP3 player (not wearable just a USB drive), so I am certain for some people the size is enough.
Am I the only one who sees a photo of a Samsung phone and a tiny flash card here, and not an ipod knockoff?
When I saw this post yesterday I saw a picture of the pendant MP3 player. But today when I checked engadget it came up with this: http://forums.ionmac.com/index.php?act=module&module=gallery&cmd=si&img=315
What's going on?
yep, looks like a phone to me...
i wanna see the real [fake] deal
Either that or the iPod shuffle is a much better proposition. Dumbass.

Someone has been sucking Steve Jobs' feces lately. Tell me, are you an iPod loyalist?
I thought so.
Yeah cuz a circle is just not as classy or simple as a rectangle.
Eww! A circle!! It's so complex and...stuff!
