Sharp just cannot make LCDs fast enough

There is a fast growing demand for LCD TVs and Sharp is not going to be left behind. They are raising their planned output of LCDs by 50%. This plan plan is set to start in April of 2006 and raise the total output to 6 million units. But they are not stopping there as by 2008, Sharp excepts to have those factories churning out over 20 million units a year.

The biggest reason for this increase is Sharp dropped the ball, so to speak. They grossly underestimated the demand for flat-panel TVs in the past. Consumers then choose from the larger selection of LG Philips and Samsung. It is simply not going to happen again.
