So how many XM and Sirius subscribers are there really?

Aight everybody, it's time to settle the arguments once and for all (for right now). We know how passionately some of you seem to feel about XM vs Sirius, and while we don't normally run these kinds of pieces, we can definitely recognize that there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of clarity as to what their subscriber numbers actually are. No, we're not talking about who's got better programming or content or equipment or whatever, we're talking numbers here -- that's it, straight up numbers. And according to Digital Music News, by the end of 2005 XM tipped the 6 million subscriber mark (with over 2.7m in growth), while Sirius bounded up to 3.3 million (from just over a million in the beginning of the year, growth of 2.1m) in the same time. Very interesting, indeed.
