The smaller, faster XS-Drive MP3 VP3650 card reader from Cardmedia
There's a new XS-Drive in town. Cardmedia's XS-Drive MP3 VP3650 won't win any fashion awards, and the 2 hour battery life doesn't inspire confidence, but the device can handle almost every type of memory card, and supports USB 2.0 to get the data off its hard drive in a jiffy. They claim an 8 minute transfer time for a 1GB memory card onto the 20GB ($300) or 30GB ($350) internal drive, which doesn't seem too bad for a 1.8-incher, and the device weighs 5.5 ounces and measures less than an inch thick, so it doesn't seem like it would be hard to toss it into our camera bag, but with a 2 hour battery life and looks like these, we can't imagine using it for much else.
