Safretti fireplaces hang on a wall
If you're looking for something that can
warm up that media room and match the plasma screen you just installed, check out these fireplaces from
Netherlands-based Safretti. These aren't just simulated fireplaces; they give you real flames, powered by liquid fuel.
No, you probably won't get a whole lot of heat out of one of these, and you can forget about burning wood (or even a
Duraflame log) in there, but if you want to add a fireplace to a room with the ease of hanging a picture, this looks
like it'll do the trick. Just don't hang it under that plasma display. [Via MoCo Loco]

Anyone know where to find video footage of a fireplace scene like above?
Gordy @ Jan 23rd 2006 4:18PM
#3, try Sears. They always plug Sears at the end of the episode for all of the products used during Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

This is COOL!
Mostly because it is real fire.
Honey, pass the marshmellows!
Richard @ Jan 23rd 2006 4:26PM

The fireplace shown in the pic is the Riviera DU, it retails for 1680 euros, its a company in the netherlands, not sure how you get them in the states but pretty killer.
ombra @ Jan 23rd 2006 7:37PM
I might believe it was real if all the flames in all the pictures weren't the same fricking image photoshopped in.
Damian @ Jan 23rd 2006 9:09PM
How does it vent? If you don't vent a gas fire you get nasty condensation = mold.
dan @ Jan 24th 2006 3:52AM
Where does the gas come from? If from a tank, then I wonder how long it lasts. If from pipeline, then it is not really as easy as hanging a picture, because mostly I do not have to make a gas connection to my bedroom hang a picture there...

Let's see - there's a disaster of a war going, due to the impending peak oil crisis, amid an ecological fallout on a planetary scale, and...
ooh! some snarky hanging fireplace gizmo! THAT'S what matters to ME!
You people are ridiculous.
Grizz @ Jan 26th 2006 3:15PM
I think #15 just insulted me.

Now that is a cool fireplace. I have seen a couple of fireplaces designed to look like a picture frame in Steamboat Springs. They were nice, but built in and burning conventional natrual gas. This one is sleek and would take a little more modern vs. rustic house to feel at home in but I like it. It would be a perfect way to add a fireplace to a room or a condo that that doesn't already have one. steamboat-springs.blogspot.com/

Does anyone know of a delaer in Colorado? I've love on of these for my place in Silerton Mountain but I'm hesitant to buy without seeing one is person and understanding more about how the fuel system works.
