Netgear's "100Mbps" RangeMax 240 Wireless Router reviewed

TomsNetworking decided to find out if Netgear's new Airgo ACE-based RangeMax 240 Wireless Router really could deliver the promised 100Mbps of bandwidth, and while it looks like it can do just that, some of the drawbacks might make you stop and think before you take the the $330 plunge for the router and accompanying notebook card. The reviewer found that the system had plenty of bandwidth on tap, even in tough to reach spots, but the MIMO (Multi-In, Multi-Out) technology wasn't the best of neighbors, at times knocking competing 2.4GHz out of the air. Also, if you connect to the network with a 802.11g or (gasp) 802.11b card, all users take a hit in speed. So it sounds like the RangeMax will deliver, but the side effects might make us think about holding out for the few more millenia it'll take for them to get 802.11n out the door.
