Duracell unveils PowerPix disposable NiOx digicam battery

Looking to move into the growing market for more powerful disposable batteries (think Panasonic's Oxyride or Energizer's disposable Lithiums), Duracell is rolling out the PowerPix, a new disposable AA and AAA battery based on a Nickel Oxy Hydroxide formulation. According to the company, the NiOx-based PowerPix provides "significantly longer-lasting battery performance" for digital cameras. Unfortunately, Duracell hasn't provided an actual definition of what that means, so we'll have to wait for the batteries to hit the market later this month to see how well these really perform compared to alkalines, which the company says often lead to "frustrating results" for digicam users (though Duracell still promotes its M3 Ultra alkalines as being "specially formulated" for devices like digital cameras).
