New DX7 LCD HDTVs from JVC

So JVC has just announced two new "HD ready" LCD HDTVs, the 26-inch LT-26DX7 and the 32-inch LT-32DX7. They include dual HDMI inputs for HDCP good times, a digital tuner, and can run 1080i and 720p images. There's also "Digital Image Scaling Technology" for keeping the picture smooth. Right now they're out in the UK, and go for $1919 and $2444 respectively.

am i missing something, or does it seem like "HD ready" is a much better route to go? with all the cable companies out there providing programming now, is there a need for a built in tuner anymore?

Wow are those overpriced.
At this point I wouldn't buy an LCD TV unless it is 1080p.

That price is a little steep considering the competition. And I am pretty sure the JVC model line-up does not support a PC-input. I just purchased the 26" LG 26LX1D this past weekend. Lots of features for the price but there was a couple of things that I don't like about it. First and the most annoying is that it will only support a PC resolution of 1024x768. The actual resolution of the tv is 1366x768 and I was hoping that I would be able to set my PC to that same resolution. The second issue pertains to the PIP. When I have the main screen set to PC for web browsing, the sub input can only be set to antenna or Input 1 or 2 and not component.

Anybody have any good recommendations for a different LCD?

The price is about right for the UK; we pay a premium on everything, and that puts it at the start of higher end sets. (for example, Sony BRAVIAs are downt to around $2100 now after being on sale for about 6 months)

"HD Ready" is a European thing that basically guarantees that the set has at least 720 lines of resolution, and will display 720p and 1080i in both 50Hz and 60Hz over Component and HDCP compliant DVI or HDMI.

It is a very useful standard, as many older televisions sold here would not display 50Hz HD signals, or did not have HDCP.

Well I just bought three (yes three)Panasonic LCD TVs and love them. They are replacing old CRT 13" and 20" TVs in the kitchen, sewing room & bedroom. Model # TC-32LX50 (32" $1,700 goes in bedroom and will be wall mounted) and two TC-23LX50 ($752)Bought all off Internet. Got to thinking about using on computer and found I couldn't, but found a great deal from Gateway with their FPD2185W. Check this 21" out for your computer and TV (PIP) and it lists for only $599 with great reviews. This would go in my home office and eliminate another old TV in there. Why have both a TV & computer in same room @ this price? Hope this info helps.

Interlaced display only makes sense for CRTs. There's no "updating every other line" in an LCD, or any other fixed resolution technology. The displays may take an interlaced source signal, but any fixed resolution display technology is progressive.

First of all, I live in the UK (now) and this is the best LCD TV on the market (screw Bravia). I'm getting one tomorrow. Second of all that pic is of the DS6 series, the model replaced my this series. I was getting that one until this was announced.

I searched around online, the LT-32DX7 is not cheap at all. Prices range around �1,077 range (http://shopping.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a/ss_jvc_television_32_inch.html). Is it not available in the U.SA?

Hi All,

I don�t usually post any thing at all, but thought that I would add a comment as I have searched on this JVC model and ended up at your site.

The reason I�m passing comment is that I saw this LCD in the flesh and working yesterday while widow shopping in town, I sat down for a good few minutes in the shop and compared this screen with the Sony and Sharp equivalents all priced around �1500 - �1800 and using the same HD feed.

In a nut shell the picture was absolutely fantastic, it seem sharper and the colour more faithful than the other screens, I often read reviews that say �the picture had a 3D quality�, well that�s exactly what I thought as I watched this particular screen, I recommend that you take a look. The other feature, which I guess will be on most of this years sets, is the inclusion of a second HMDI which is exactly what I would be looking for (SKY HD and BlueRay with no switching)

Its early days and this is the first time I have seen or heard of this JVC, what I will say is that I will be seriously considering this LCD.
