Sprint marches out new EV-DO expansion plans

After finally hitting the half-way mark for EV-DO coverage in the US, Sprint is continuing their EV-DO rollout and hope to be reaching 190 million people by the end of the year. At the same time they'll be mixing in the EV-DO Revision A standard to current and new installations, which bumps downstream speeds to 3.1Mbps and upstream speeds to 1.8Mbps. This compares quite favorably to the current 2Mbps down and piddling 144kbps up, but of course these are all max speeds, and average bitrates won't be quite as xtreem. The faster up speeds should greatly aid in VoiP and video conferencing, and Sprint is hoping to reach 220 million people with the Rev A network by Q3 '07.
