Onkyo entering the HD Media Center Market

Media Centers PCs have had a hard time entering many homes. They can just be...well...overwhelming. Plus, they often come from company's (HP and Alienware) that are not normally on your A/V rack. Enter Onkyo. Premier name in everything audio and video. This is the going to be the next big evolutionary step for some of these higher-end companies. People look at names like Onkyo and Denon with confidence. They know that the product is going to be good. O.K. enough with that.

Onkyo's first Media Center is a VIIV based Windows Media box called the HDC-7. This golden boy is sporting a Pentium D820 (2.80GHz), 1 gig of DDR2 Ram, a 400 gig SATA HD, a multi-format DVD burner and of course support for high def. It does so through a DVI connection - it also has S-Video for those non-HD owners. Sorry to get you all worked up though as this box is a Japanese market unit. Lets just hope they bring one out over here in the states; but not in gold. Maybe a nice black or silver would be cool, but we just do not dig that gold.
