iRiver's PocketTV B10 for portable DMB
Looks like iRiver is getting set to launch a terrestrial flavored (judging by that telescoping antenna) portable DMB TV dubbed the Pocket TV B10. In a refreshing salute to minimalism, this pup features a 2.2-inch QVGA display on a device apparently dedicated to digital TV and DMB and FM radio -- no attempts to cram in a bunch of PMP features here folks. Said to be dropping in Korea on May 23rd for about $140. But hey, judging by the pics we're calling prototype on this one so who knows.

We live in a strange world. We see people drooling over 50" screens and 2.2" screens at the same time. What do people want....ridiculously huge or ridiculously small?

crap its tiny!

In the home, I want 50", away from home I want it to fit in my pocket. I have a laptop to watch stuff on but its not always convenient, I would ove a PMP what I can keep on me. Something a little bigger than 2" though, give me 3.5" screen, that will still fit in a pocket.

Here is a stupid question...
Wouldn't this be obsolete in a few years when they stop broadcasting the analog signal or does this receive the HD signal?

It'll be obsolete when they discontinue analog broadcasting in 2009, yes. But with 2-3 years of TV in your pocket for $140, I'd say its viable.

THIS IS DIGITAL. NO ANALOG. If anything, you'll have to wait until digital broadcasts become standard before this thing becomes useful.

Hey, that's Safeco Field! Home of my beloved yet terrible Seattle Mariners.

Be interesting to see if it could be used as an external tuner for pc/laptop. Should it ever appear that is.

I wish this were available in time for the FIFA World Cup in June...oh yeah, and living someplace where digital signals like these were available.

DVB-T is standard in Australia. Well it is available as well as analog transmissions.
YSB @ May 19th 2006 1:28AM
This one receives not analog but digital signal. DMB means Digital Multimedia Broadcasting. It is now only available in Korea.
DMB external tuners (which use USB)are being sold in Korea, which means you can watch TV through any computers which have a USB port with the devices.

Finally, a device dedicated to the Dave Matthews Band!
