Acer Aspire 9800 with HD DVD in the wild
We first heard rumblings about the Acer Aspire 9800 with HD DVD drive back in April. Now right on schedule, the 9800 has appeared at Computex going extra-large with that 20.1-inch, 1680x1050 widescreen display, Intel Core Duo, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 graphics, integrated 1.2 megapixel webcam, up to 240GB SATA disk, and plenty of high-end audio capabilities (for a lappy) to make this a true, semi-portable multimedia powerhouse. Still no price or availability but it's good to see her in the fo'realz anyway. Now, if we could just hunt down their rumored Blu-ray laptop we'll be all set.

Does that screenshot indicate that Serenity will be available on HD DVD? (Movie is better than Star Wars) Everyone should buy the movie and the box set of the series.

Why isn't the screen 1920x1080(1200). It could then display a pixel for pixel 1920x1080P image...

Gotta love the movie, Firefly, in the screenshot

Yes. In fact, it's one of the first titles that Universal announced for HD-DVD a couple of months ago. Although you won't find any new extra features on the disc, I've heard that the picture is reference-quality.

Mmm, seems like a waste that a hd dvd laptop can't display 1080i even. And that it is 20.1 inch to boot just makes it worse. It should be called tabletop instead of laptop...

20 inches???? Imagine trying to carry that about, you'd probably do your back in. I think this is meant to be used almost 100% as a desktop computer, but it would certainly be a 'cool' desktop pc.
There are some pics on Register which show that the screen is as thick as the body!!!
