Thats because sony rocks, the rest rest suck.
I'm with the above poster...I have 3 Nikon SLRs and a good 6 lenses for them...I'd love an alternative that used the same mount (and Kodak SLRs don't count). Of course, this is a breath of fresh air for all those owners of Konica (or Konica-Minolta) cameras and T-Mount lenses. Let it live on!
how much is this gonna cost us? 1000? mmmm i hoping i can get that much by the end of the month
Yes, it's $999 with an 18-70mm kit lens. You can preorder now on SonyStyle.com
Sony may rock for many things,PEZ but Nikon is king when it comes to cameras.

Tell it to these guys:

That's a whole lotta Canon L glass.
But I think the main point is that Sony is nothing in SLR's, and despite the Minolta acquisition, they probably never will be.

The Alpha α100 uses the same Sony 10 megapixel APS sensor found in the Nikon D200...
Interesting. Imma buy one. Er, and A100 That is =)
It seems like an Ok camera, but the lens prices are pretty high. 70-200mm with a MSRP of 2300? No thanks. It might give he rebel and D70 competition, but I dont see much else.
I will rather stick with my Nikon lens. Sony lens are not that good to begin with.
Lenses? "Sony" lenses? Despite the badge, I don't think these will be "Sony" lenses (i.e. typical P/S glass).
Those who (like "Digital Camera" on 11 Jun, above) have existing semi-pro or better gear have no real reason to change; but then, once you're invested in a product-line, the glass becomes a big reason to stay! Very few Nikon/Canon users switch, once they've got more than a few lenses...
Existing KM series (if you're bought in, this is VERY good news for you!)
Zeiss -- Those lenses will be just fine, thank you.
3rd party -- Tamron/etc makes some very decent glass; nothing that's a world-beater, but very decent.
Sony is nothing in SLR's, Jeff? Well, yeah... Uhhh... name me the last Sony DSLR? By all acounts, however... this A100 is looking like a serious contender (and there ARE ways around the over-priced glass in the product lineup).

What ways are you suggesting? Five finger discount. :) JK
