Samsung Q1 extended battery pack
So you've got a Q1 (so, so many of you) but are finding that two and a half hours of battery life just doesn't cut it? Well Samsung's got a solution for you... sort of. For about $164 you can score yourself an extended battery pack, which should pump up that time to a more respectable/shoulda been standard 5 1/2 hours -- providing you're willing to put up with a little added weight and bulk, that is.

I tested this camera for a client. I didn’t have the light running for more than 15 minutes. The battery lasted approximately 6 hours before recharging. The LCD, however, had a few dead pixels - never saw this before. Tried returning for exchange and had to put up quite a fight. Anyone else seen this? http://www.batterylaptoppower.com
Yeah, All of these devices belong in a landfill even with 10+ hours of battery life. Why not use a notebook or a tablet. Microsoft way to waste your engineers time coming up with something nobody will ever use.
Actually, that's a bit extreme! It's perfect for our business, it allows us to input info. as we do a home inspection, that way the report is done when the inspection is done. It saves us at least 3 hours of work per inspection. I highly recommend the product. And sorry, but a pen and paper just can't compare.
This UMPC has been a savior to me on many a flight. The Q1 has its place in the market. Just because some of you can't afford it or prefer another form factor there is no reason to go about bashing it.
I would have preferred if it had an integrated keyboard but it is not a deal breaker. I bought a small collapsable external usb keyboard for $20 to use when I need to do heavy typing.
Why do you think Apple's engineers will be able to offer more battery life on their device? Look at the iPod's pathetic battery life!
hey batteries a hard things I just think 2.5 hours sucks and that an extened battery is good- Although I will never buy one cuz I NEED OS X- yup I use OS X only apps
I'd have to agree with Jim... UMPC's have their market and with Q1 soon to be hosting Windows Vista, I believe photographers will be looking towards UMPCs for travel.
The 1000euros I paid for the Q1 is a steal as is saved me buy an iPod, (video) PMP, CF Reader (for my camera), ultra light laptop and a PDA, not to mention web surfing, video streaming, bluetooth for connecting to my phone, and office2003 in my hand anywhere, not forgetting Bittorrent...
So for home its the desktop, for abroad (I travel a lot) I have my DTR XPS M1710, and for going anywahere I have my Q1.
The battery is a definite purchase for me.
My opinion is that $1000 is not expensive for the Q1. The diminutive size, bluetooth capability, 802.11g, make
it ideal for the OTR driver. Laptops don't take well to constant jarring impacts especially in the hinges. Adittionally, laptop mounts for trucks are in the $300 range and are very bulky. The Q1 is clearly not
intended to be one's primary pc, but is quite adequate in the roles for which it is suited.
Should you compare with Mugen Power high capacity battery? It is talking about 7800mAh, which more than a double power. Please contact me if you want more information: marketing02@unifirm.com
