At Engadget, most of us are what you'd call casual gamers, given that on occasion, we love to kick back with a round or two of "Civilization IV" whenever we need some R&R. That said, we're lightyears away from Kevout -- the guy that just won
Joystiq's contest of "Most impressive
gamer rig" -- who just took home a new copy of "Dead Rising" for the Xbox 360. He's got a 32-system setup (
only 21 of those consoles are actually connected), that ranges from a
Commodore 64 to an
Xbox 360, accompanied by a total of 568 games; amusingly, since he blows all his loot on videogame hardware and software, he had to scrounge that disgraceful CRT out of a dumpster. We assume that once Kevout gets his paws on a
PS3 he'll have achieved gamer nirvana. Until the
Wii comes out, that is.

Hey... he doesn't have a PSP!
(well PSP isn't that great, but still!)
dickson @ Sep 18th 2006 12:42AM
Wouldn't he need an HDTV/monitor w the PSP/Xbox 360?
seamus bartlett @ Sep 18th 2006 12:43AM
Yeah, but where's his Virtual Boy?
seamus bartlett @ Sep 18th 2006 12:45AM
Oh, there it is.
...
Anyways, my main point is: I find it hard to believe that any man owning 32 systems and 568 games could be that clean and organized. Suspicious...

The venerable C64, right up front where it should be. Nice. Also impressive is the original Atari VCS, better known to most as the 2600 - my uncle had one of the original ones, it was always a joyous occasion when we went to visit him.
Missing, however, is the excellent-but-doomed Coleco Adam. Unless I missed it. A friend of mine had one of those, and we became expert players of Buck Rogers (I think it was Buck Rogers - it came with a mildly popular arcade shooter). What was cool about that one was that it used cassettes for data storage, and while you played your game the tape would rewind and fast forward and play, just like the gigantic reels on the computers you'd see in the movies back then... awesome.
Max Steel @ Sep 18th 2006 1:44AM
What no Vectrex? Boo!
tim @ Sep 18th 2006 1:45AM

Michel @ Sep 18th 2006 3:04AM
How exactly does he have 21 systems connected? I doubt the dumpster TV has 21 inputs.
pbase @ Sep 18th 2006 3:13AM
Ah, the TurboGrafx. I will purchase the Wii, just to be able to play Bonk's Adventures once again.
The sweet, sweet early nineties.

jc @ Sep 18th 2006 3:32AM

Maff Mace @ Sep 18th 2006 4:11AM
as has already been mentioned by someone:
I've only ever owned 1 games console and I still use it for Sensible Soccer, and that's the worlds 1st 32bit CD games console, the Amiga CD32 (which is a follow up to the CDTV - Commodore Dynamic Total Vision - one of the 1st CD games consoles)
mg @ Sep 18th 2006 4:47AM
No Spectrum!
Boso @ Sep 18th 2006 5:07AM
Wow. Impressive rig, most have cost him a fortune !! Let me guess though, lives with his parents, no girlfriend, no LIFE !!
187 - John Doe @ Sep 18th 2006 6:25AM
I wish, I only wish I would have all those consoles, I've got most of them, but most of them were overplayed so bad they don't actually work anymore... Yeah.. it's always a tragic loss.
David Beamish @ Sep 18th 2006 7:32AM
Pfft even I have an Atari Lynx..
zedwards @ Sep 18th 2006 7:44AM

Jason @ Sep 18th 2006 7:56AM

JDigital @ Sep 18th 2006 8:54AM

asdf @ Sep 18th 2006 9:30AM
No Gamate and no CD32? What a lamer.
asdf @ Sep 18th 2006 9:31AM
JDigital: Amigas are computers, not consoles (except the CD32).
asdf @ Sep 18th 2006 9:38AM
Oh wait, I thought this is consoles only, but then I saw the C64. Yeah, truly a lamer if he doesn't have an Amiga.
